Rashed AlShashai

Rashed AlShashai’s monumental three-storey public artwork, The Fifth Pyramid was a sculpture composed of hundreds of plastic shipping pallets and lit from within. Part of an ongoing series, the structures combine materials, forms and symbols of ancient and modern global commerce, trade and knowledge.

Launched in March 2021, Noor Riyadh is the world’s largest light art festival, an annual citywide festival celebrating light and art. This iteration was curated by Dr Effat Abdullah Fadag and Dr Alfredo Cramerotti, and featured over sixty artworks and installations by a range of renowned local and international artists and studios.
